Strike at Matrix Vinh: Workers still not back to work
(Baonghean.vn) - After a day of strike, by the morning of October 4, workers of Matrix Vinh Company Limited (Bac Vinh Industrial Park) still had not returned to work.
Mr. Vuong An Nguyen - Chairman of the Southeast Economic Zone Trade Union said: From 10:00 a.m. on October 3, the Southeast Economic Zone Trade Union officials and the authorities coordinated with the Board of Directors of Matrix Company Limited to organize a dialogue, grasp the aspirations of the workers, thereby finding a common voice, so that the workers can return to work soon.

After nearly a day of dialogue, the Company promised to soon resolve some benefits for workers such as increasing meal allowance from 12,000 VND to 15,000 VND/meal starting from October 2016, repairing the toilet system, installing additional timekeeping card swiping machines...
However, the parties have yet to reach a consensus on the workers’ quota. Previously, the workers said that the current quota was too high, forcing them to work very hard, while the salary and bonuses were not commensurate. Meanwhile, the company said that this year, up to 85% of the workers received monthly bonuses for exceeding the quota, and not many people complained.
Currently, the functional departments and the Board of Directors of Matrix Company Limited continue to organize dialogue with workers.
On the morning of October 1, more than 2,500 workers out of a total of more than 3,400 workers of Matrix Company Limited organized a strike to demand their rights. According to the workers' reflection, the quota set by the Company for them is too high, especially for apprentice workers; The lunch allowance of 12,000 VND/meal is too low, it is proposed to increase it to 15,000 VND/meal; Some supervisors yell at and insult workers; Timekeeping machines are few and operate slowly, causing many workers to have their attendance allowance deducted because they have not had time to swipe their cards; The toilets are cramped and dirty, the workers' drinking water is not guaranteed... |
