Orientation of activities of the world biosphere reserve network in Vietnam
(Baonghean.vn) - On November 29, in Vinh City, a workshop was held to summarize the work of 2017 and orient the activities of the world biosphere reserve network in Vietnam.

Attending the workshop organized by the National Committee of the Man and Biosphere Program of Vietnam (MAB Vietnam) under the National Committee of UNESCO Vietnam were Senior Lieutenant General, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Thanh, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of Public Security - member of the World Council for Systemic Science Research; Professor, Dr. Nguyen Hoang Tri - Chairman and General Secretary of the National Committee of MAB Vietnam; representatives of the Ministry of Science and Technology; the National Committee of UNESCO Vietnam and biosphere reserves nationwide. On Nghe An side, there was comrade Dinh Viet Hong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Management Board of the Western Nghe An Biosphere Reserve. |
In 2017, thanks to the active and effective work of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs/UNESCO National Committee and the Ministry of Science and Technology, Vietnam became a member of the International MAB Executive Board with a high number of votes.
Vietnam's world biosphere reserves have carried out many activities, diversified according to specific conditions, promoting the process of building world biosphere reserves into models of conservation and sustainable development of localities...
Speaking at the workshop, comrade Dinh Viet Hong - Vice Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee introduced the Western Nghe An World Biosphere Reserve and its outstanding results after 10 years of being recognized by UNESCO as a World Biosphere Reserve.

Simultaneously,Head of the Management Board of Western Nghe An Biosphere ReserveIt is hoped that at the Workshop, delegates will discuss and share initiatives and experiences in managing biosphere reserves nationwide, thereby jointly implementing the local biosphere reserve management plan and contributing to the successful implementation of the Lima Action Plan - Developing social enterprises in the world biosphere reserve network in Vietnam.

At the workshop, delegates discussed national-level science and technology tasks managed by the Ministry of Science and Technology being implemented in a number of biosphere reserves, 6 topics being implemented in the world biosphere reserves of Dong Nai, Langbiang, Kien Giang, Tay Nghe An, Cu Lao Cham - Hoi An and the topic on building a set of criteria and regulations for monitoring and evaluating the overall management effectiveness for world biosphere reserves in Vietnam; implementing the development of social enterprises in world biosphere reserves in Vietnam.
Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Thanh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of Public Security presented on systemic thinking in policy planning for social enterprise development in Vietnam and the Research Model at Cat Ba World Biosphere Reserve./.
