Dinh Trong missed the 2020 U23 Asian qualifiers
Center back Dinh Trong missed the Vietnam U23 team's appointment to participate in the 2020 U23 Asian qualifiers at the end of March because he has not recovered from injury.
As reported by Bongdaplus a month ago, central defender Tran Dinh Trong along with two other defenders, Dang Van Toi and Luc Xuan Hung, went to Korea to undergo surgery for injuries. As for Dinh Trong, the 21-year-old central defender had to undergo surgery to remove a small piece of broken bone near his ankle. This was the injury he suffered in the first leg of the 2018 AFF Cup final against Malaysia.
Although this injury does not affect training and competition, with the advice of teachers and teammates, especially coach Park Hang-seo, Dinh Trong did not participate in the 2019 Asian Cup with the Vietnamese team. Instead, he went to Korea to completely treat this injury.
Talking to reporters of Bong Da newspaper, Dinh Trong said: “My injury recovery is progressing very well. In about 1-2 months, I will be able to compete again. I expect to return to Vietnam in early March.”
With the current situation, Dinh Trong will most likely be absent from the Vietnam U23 team participating in the 2020 U23 Asia qualifiers taking place from March 22-26 against Brunei, Indonesia, and Thailand in Ho Chi Minh City.
On the other hand, the trio Dinh Trong, Van Toi and Xuan Hung have also welcomed another Vietnamese player to Korea for injury check-up. That is defender Vu Van Thanh. However, more than a month away from home, plus the Lunar New Year, makes Dinh Trong feel sad.
“Right now, I really miss my family, my teammates, and Bui Tien Dung. I miss everything, all the Vietnamese people. In Korea, my teammates and I were also cared for and looked after by the Vietnamese people here. But right now, I really crave my mother's food more than anything else,” Dinh Trong shared with a reporter from Bong Da newspaper.
