Do Luong: 10 outstanding achievements in 2016

(Baonghean) - In 2016, the Party Committee, government and people of Do Luong district achieved many results in politics, economy, society, national defense and security. Among them are the following outstanding achievements:

1. In the first year of implementing the Resolution of the Party Congresses at all levels for the 2016-2020 term, Do Luong achieved an estimated economic growth rate of 11.66%; the total production value for the year (at current prices) is estimated at 11,929.68 billion VND, equal to 100.69% of the plan, up 15.57% over the previous year.

2. Total state budget revenue in the area in 2016 was over 230 billion VND, reaching 131% of the plan. Average production value is estimated at 61.15 million VND/person/year, equal to 116.47% compared to the previous year.

3. Implementing the National Target Program on New Rural Construction, in 2016, 3 communes reached the finish line, bringing the total number of communes meeting new rural standards to 10 communes, accounting for 31.25% of the total number of communes.

4. In 2016, Do Luong continued to attract businesses to invest in the market and commercial center projects in the district center, Lac Son industrial cluster; small industrial cluster in the town; Thuong Son industrial cluster; organized the appraisal of bidding plans for 20 works and projects; organized the selection of contractors and approved the selection of contractors for 39 works. In particular, the Ha An Company's hot spring project was revoked to attract other investors; approved the project to restore and embellish the Qua Son Temple historical relic.

5. Trade and services developed diversely with total retail sales of goods and services estimated at VND 8,500 billion, equal to 101.80% of the plan, up 16.44% over the same period.

6. Regarding land, resource and environment management, the compensation and support plan for site clearance for the following projects has been appraised and approved: Upgrading and moving Cau Dau dike through the town; upgrading the traffic route connecting N5 road of the Southeast Economic Zone to Hoa Son; expanding Song Lam Cement Factory... The total compensation and support amount is nearly 41 billion VND, reaching 138.6%.

7. Created jobs for more than 3,000 workers; of which 1,136 were exported; remittances sent back through banks reached nearly 11 million USD.

8. The comprehensive quality of education at all levels is maintained; at the end of the 2015-2016 school year, 21 students won national excellent student awards; 313 students won provincial excellent student awards; the high school graduation rate is 99.1%; the 10th grade entrance exam scores continue to be among the top in the province, with 12 students in the top 100 with the highest scores in the province; the total number of students passing college and university entrance exams is 743, of which 6 students with high scores were commended by the Provincial People's Committee.

9. 2016 marked many successes of Do Luong in the field of culture and sports. The Youth Football Team won the First Prize and the Children's Team won the Third Prize of Nghe An Newspaper Cup. Participating in the 35th Nghe An Province Sen Village Singing Festival, they won the Second Prize. The rate of cultural families was 81%, reaching 101.25% compared to the same period. The rate of cultural blocks and hamlets was 46%, reaching 109.52% compared to the same period.

10. Implement national health programs well, prevent epidemics from occurring, do a good job of medical examination, emergency care, and treatment for people, and ensure food safety and hygiene. Political security work is maintained, ensuring the safety of the election of deputies to the 14th National Assembly, the election of deputies to People's Councils at all levels for the 2016-2021 term, and major national holidays and festivals in the district.
