Do Luong: Two students drowned while bathing in the river

(Baonghean.vn) -At around 2:00 p.m. today, May 13, at the canal section passing through Yen Son commune, Do Luong district, 2 female students died from drowning.

The identities of the two students are: Nguyen Thi T. (born 2000) and Nguyen Thi Thuy L. (born 2000), both 6th grade students, Van Yen Secondary School, Do Luong district.

A group of 8 children went to the river to bathe after returning from the end-of-year party. While playing, L. slipped and drowned. Hearing L.'s cry for help, T. jumped in to save him but also drowned. Seeing this, the group of friends panicked and ran to the shore to call for adults to come and save them. However, there were very few people around when the children were bathing, so by the time people came to save them, it was too late.

People gathered on the bridge to watch the search for the victim's body.

The families of the two children had to hire divers to search, but as of 5:00 p.m. the same day, their bodies had not been found due to strong currents.

It is known that drowning incidents have occurred frequently in this river in recent years. Parents should remind their children to be careful when swimming in lakes, rivers and streams.
