After turning off all the lights, the celebrant shouted "linh tinh tinh phốc" three times, the boy held the red painted spear and stabbed it straight into the large hollowed out bed, making many people blush.

The act of hitting each other three times is considered lucky for the whole village in the new year. This is a strange ritual at the traditional festival of Tro Tram village, Lam Thao district (Phu Tho).

The Tro Tram Festival (also known as Linh Tinh Tinh Phoc) took place on the evening of February 18, attracting nearly a thousand tourists and people from all over the country. Dance and singing performances about scholars, farmers, workers, and merchants started early.

Diễn xướng dân gian Tứ dân chi nghiệp là một trong những tiết mục nghệ thuật truyền thống của làng. Chương trình bắt đầu từ 20h tối 11 tháng Giêng âm lịch.
The folk performance “Tu dan chi nghiep” is one of the traditional art performances of the village. The program starts at 8pm on the 11th day of the first lunar month.

.

Mr. Nguyen Van Tuan (23 years old) was chosen to play a cross-dressing role on stage to make the audience laugh.

.
The program also has many jokes that create laughter for the participants.

.
At 11pm, the elders perform the ceremony. At midnight on January 12, the secret ceremony takes place.

.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Ngu, the custodian of the Tro temple in Tram village, climbed up to the sacred hiding place in the temple to get the red-painted wooden tray (containing the bowl and the pot) and brought it down to place in front of the altar to perform the ceremony.

.
The highlight of the festival is the ritual of performing the 'Secret Ceremony', where Mr. Ngu sings a eulogy before handing over the basket and the tray to a couple chosen by the villagers to represent the village.

.
The couple performed the Linh tinh tinh phốc ritual. In the dark, the celebrant heard the “click” sound three times and the lights came back on. That moment was called the “sacred” moment. Finally, the celebrant shouted: “Thao khoan”, at which point everyone ran out together.

.

The gong and the scepter symbolize male and female genders and are the main mascots of the festival. They are made of jackfruit wood and painted red, and are used as sacrifices and to pray for the growth of the race. At this year’s festival, the gong and the scepter both hit each other three times, which is considered good luck for the whole year.
