Song Dinh Urban Area, the driving force for development of the eastern region of Quy Hop

(Baonghean) -At the 9th session, the 15th Provincial People's Council passed a resolution approving the Dinh River Urban Project, Quy Hop district as a type V urban area. This means that the establishment of Dinh River Town will create a driving force for the development of the eastern region of Quy Hop district.

Present at Tan My hamlet, Tam Hop commune, one of the three communes in the planning area of ​​Song Dinh town, Mr. Truong Dinh Luat, the hamlet's Secretary, said: As one of the first people present since the early days of the district's establishment, witnessing the development of this land, he was very happy to hear that the Provincial People's Council recently passed a resolution on the establishment of Song Dinh town. He said that the birth of Song Dinh urban area not only continues history (Nong Truong 3/2 town was established in 1965 and dissolved in 1995) but also proves the strength of this land and opens up new development opportunities for the cluster of communes in the future.

Indeed, in the past 10 years, the commune cluster in the Sang Le intersection area has developed very strongly. Business sectors have diversified, technical infrastructure has been continuously invested, and people's lives have been improved. The highlight and also the important foundation for the formation of the urban area is that the Nghe An Tate & Lyle Sugarcane Joint Venture Factory has been operating, leading to the emergence and development of many new service sectors in the area.

Since 2008, the project to build Song Dinh Town was proposed and started. After 5 years of surveying, selecting and finalizing the plan for classifying Song Dinh Urban Area, it was submitted to the Provincial People's Council. Accordingly, the Song Dinh Urban Planning Project basically runs along National Highway 48. From Thai Hoa up, the starting point is from the intersection to Nghia Hung (Nghia Dan) to the end about 1 km from the intersection of Sang Le (Tam Hop commune) to the 2 branches of National Highway 48 C going to Quy Hop Town and National Highway 48 going to Quy Chau - Que Phong. Song Dinh Urban Area has a natural area of ​​473.3 hectares, a population of 7,422 people (as of June 2011), located in 15 hamlets of 3 communes (Nghia Xuan, Tam Hop and Minh Hop).

Mr. Nguyen Cong Kich, Head of the Internal Affairs Department of the People's Committee of Quy Hop district, said: To have the current name of Song Dinh Urban Area, the district's functional agencies and departments have discussed and collected opinions very democratically and widely, from meetings with people in related hamlets to collect opinions, then meetings with union cadres, key leaders of communes, the District People's Council approved, then the Executive Committee and the Standing Committee of the District Party Committee gave opinions. The current name of Song Dinh Urban Area is the most agreed upon by many people with many meanings recalling a legend in history when King Le Loi established a military training headquarters in the Bai Tap area, it is said that he established a mansion on this river. On the other hand, Dinh River is a river that runs along the district and has a history closely associated with the people of Quy Hop. The recognition of Song Dinh Urban Area as a type 5 urban area is a necessary condition for the establishment of a town. After the classification results are recognized, the authorities will proceed with the next steps such as forming a framework, apparatus, building facilities, etc.

In fact, with a convenient traffic and commercial market location, Song Dinh Urban Area is not only a hub for providing and transiting food products from the lowlands to the orange, sugarcane, and rubber raw material areas of Quy Hop, Quy Chau, and Que Phong districts, but also a collection and transfer point for agricultural products to other markets. This is shown by the criteria that the urban function and non-agricultural labor rate of Song Dinh Urban Area are rated the highest and close to the maximum. Among the service industries, the transportation industry in the area is the most developed with hundreds of trucks in operation in 3 communes, which will be a prospect for the development of mechanical and machinery repair and service industries.

The recognition of Song Dinh Urban Area as a type 5 urban area and in the near future becoming a town has great significance for the socio-economic development of the eastern region of Quy Hop district, actively contributing to creating momentum for socio-economic development of the western region of Nghe An.
