Green urban areas are an inevitable trend in planning.

For future urban planning, the most important thing is to put the Green factor first. The concept of urban green space itself needs to be understood broadly, not only including street trees, parks, water surfaces but also including a comprehensive view such as: Green corridors, green belts, high-quality agricultural production areas, etc.

For future urban planning, the most important thing is to put the Green factor first. The concept of urban green space itself needs to be understood broadly, not only including street trees, parks, water surfaces but also including a comprehensive view such as: Green corridors, green belts, high-quality agricultural production areas, etc.

This is the opinion of Mr. Luu Duc Hai, Vice President of the Vietnam Urban Planning and Development Association, about the sustainable development trend of modern cities in the coming time at the "Green City" Workshop recently held in Hanoi.

According to Mr. Hai, "green urban" is a new concept but has received special attention from people and real estate investors. Green urban is becoming more important as environmental pollution and noise pollution are increasing in big cities. People now tend to want to own a spacious house in a green space, close to nature but still comfortable and convenient.

A green city today must meet 7 criteria: Green space, green buildings, green traffic, green industry, green urban environmental quality, conservation of natural landscapes, scenic spots, historical and cultural works, and a community of residents living in harmony with the environment and nature.

Mr. Le Trong Binh, Director of the Institute of Architecture, Vietnam Association of Architects, proposed 5 groups of framework criteria for Green architecture including: Sustainable location; Use of resources, energy and green technology; Quality of architectural environment, urban environment; Impact on natural environment and human environment; Preservation, conservation, inheritance and promotion of traditional values.

The program also introduced some typical green urban models such as Suoi Son project in Dong Nai of Dat Xanh Group; The Empire project of Thanh Do Investment and Construction Joint Stock Company...

This is the first time a conference on green cities has been held. Through this program, the organizers hope to create an annual forum on sustainable development issues of Vietnamese cities.
