After a series of terrorist attacks involving migrants, a wave of anti-immigration took place strongly in Germany, Mrs. Merkel was criticized and her reputation declined because of her open-door policy.
However, many people still want to see Ms. Merkel continue to take on a fourth term in September 2017.
Also according to the interview, the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) increased its support by 1% to reach 22%.
The Greens and the Free Democratic Party (FDP) won less popularity.
The right-wing Alternative for Germany (AfD) party maintained its position at 15%.
The AfD has won big in regional elections this year and opinion polls show many voters are disappointed with Ms Merkel's right-wing ruling coalition.
The SPD's preferred coalition partner, the Greens, fell 0.5 percentage points to 11%.
The far left party, a potential partner of the SPD, rose to 12%.
Commenting on the voting results, the director of INSA told Bild: “Germany is looking forward to the most exciting election in its history.”
