Japanese Embassy delegation visits and works in Nghe An
(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of July 31, the Provincial People's Committee held a working session with the delegation of the Embassy of Japan in Hanoi led by Mr. Nagai Katsuro - Ambassador to visit and work in Nghe An province.
Comrade Hoang Viet Duong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee chaired the meeting. Also attending were representatives of the Provincial People's Committee Office, the Department of Planning & Investment and the Department of Foreign Affairs.

On behalf of the Provincial People's Committee, Mr. Hoang Viet Duong reported on the cooperation situation between Nghe An and Japan in recent times. Accordingly, Nghe An currently considers Japan as a leading important partner in the fields of economy, trade, and official development assistance (ODA).

Regarding friendly and cooperative relations with Japanese localities, at the provincial level, Nghe An currently has relations with two Japanese provinces, Shizuoka and Gifu. Regarding trade, in 2014, export turnover to Japan reached more than 9 million USD, export turnover of goods in the first 6 months of the year to Japan reached more than 4.9 million USD, import turnover from Japan in the first 6 months of the year was nearly 7.1 million USD. Regarding official development assistance (ODA), up to now, the total number of projects funded by Japan in Nghe An is 44 projects, with a total investment of nearly 6,200 billion. The province also prioritizes attracting FDI investment from Japan in the fields of industry, agriculture and a number of other fields such as investment in industrial park infrastructure and resort service projects, education, healthcare, etc.
The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the Ambassador to actively support the development of Nghe An province, committed that the province would create all favorable conditions for Japanese investors to operate in the area, and expressed his desire to attract more investment in the fields of high technology, supporting industry, electronics, automobile manufacturing, petrochemicals, etc.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Nagai Katsuro thanked the province for the warm welcome of the Japanese Embassy delegation, and assessed that the friendly and cooperative relationship between Nghe An and Japanese provinces is increasingly developing and strengthening in many aspects such as economy, politics, society, etc.
The Ambassador also expressed his sincere thanks for the support of the Provincial People's Committee in implementing ODA projects, and recommended that the province have specific regulations and policies specifically for Japanese small and medium-sized enterprises investing in the area.
Mr. Katsuro also expressed his wish to strengthen support policies for Nghe An, especially in the field of high-tech agriculture to improve the quality of life of the people, and emphasized that the Embassy will be a bridge to promote connections and develop investment promotion activities of the province./.
