Forever friendship

2022 is a special year for Vietnam and Laos, celebrating the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (September 5, 1962 - September 5, 2022) and the 45th anniversary of the signing of the Vietnam - Laos Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation (July 18, 1977 - July 18, 2022).

This is also the year to organize the Youth Union Congresses at all levels, towards the 18th Congress of the Communist Youth Union of Nghe An province, the 12th National Youth Union Congress, term 2022-2027.

Promoting the precious sentiments that the two Parties and two States have worked hard to cultivate, Nghe An youth have had many very effective coordinated activities with the Lao People's Revolutionary Youth Union, which shares a border with Nghe An province, including the provinces of Xieng Khouang, Hua Phan and Bolikhamxay.

Through theSigning of memorandum of understanding on cooperation, annuallyThe two provinces have organized excellent youth delegations to visit, exchange and learn experiences in Youth Union work and youth movements, visit historical sites, and study youth economic development models.

During the annual Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign, the Provincial Youth Union Standing Committee organizes international volunteer teams in Laos with many meaningful activities such as: Teaching Vietnamese; visiting, giving gifts and helping families and children in difficult circumstances; repairing lighting systems for houses; providing health check-ups, consultations and free medicine; instructing people on farming and animal husbandry techniques, and building VACR economic models.

This is an activity that left a good impression, recognized and highly appreciated by local leaders and people. In particular, Nghe An - the hometown of President Ho Chi Minh is always honored to be the destination of delegations of Vietnam - Laos youth friendship exchange organized by the Central Youth Union.

In addition, from practical experience in building youth volunteer teams and youth villages in the province, Nghe An Provincial Youth Union was assigned by the Central Youth Union to support the construction of the Vietnam - Laos Friendship Border Youth Village in Bolikhamxay province.

Nghe An Provincial Youth Union also always pays attention to and directs districts sharing the border with Laos, namely Ky Son, Tuong Duong, Con Cuong, Anh Son, Que Phong, Thanh Chuong, to organize many meaningful activities such as establishing youth volunteer teams to keep the border peaceful, organizing exchange activities to establish twinning villages sharing the border.

During the Covid-19 outbreak, the youth of the two countries actively participated in the work of disease prevention and control, typically through activities of sharing love and supporting essential necessities for Lao students studying and living in Nghe An province, joining hands with functional forces to fight the epidemic in border areas... This further contributed to fostering the special solidarity and friendship between the Party, people and youth of Vietnam and Laos.

Continuing the journey of cooperation

Speaking at the working program, comrade Tran Linh - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union expressed his joy and appreciation for meeting and discussing many important issues with key cadres of the Lao People's Revolutionary Youth Union during the visit, exchange and practical study in Nghe An province.

It can be said that the activities of the youth of the two countries have been taking place more frequently, with specific actions, which further affirms the efforts in cultivating the good traditional friendship of the two peoples.

From that achievement, the Deputy Secretary of Nghe An Provincial Youth Union affirmed that he will continue to pay attention, support and cooperate with the delegation of the neighboring country in youth activities associated with many practical and meaningful programs and activities. He is ready to exchange and coordinate on the work of the Youth Union so that the Youth Union movement of both provinces will increasingly develop, contributing to building the brotherly friendship between the two countries to be forever green and sustainable.

Comrade Seng On Puong Ma Ni Vanh - Deputy Head of the Youth Vocational Development Department, Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Youth Union expressed his deep gratitude to the Central Committee of the Communist Youth Union of Vietnam and the provincial leaders, Nghe An Provincial Youth Union always pay attention to support and cooperate, especially in training cadres, youth work for Laos as well as meaningful volunteer activities of Nghe An youth in Laos.

In the coming time, he hopes that the youth of both sides will preserve and promote that precious tradition, so that the Vietnam - Laos brotherly friendship will last forever with the two peoples, fulfilling the wishes of President Ho Chi Minh and President Kaysone Phomvyhane during their lifetime.
