Opening of Nghe An Open Youth Pickleball Tournament 2025
Nearly 200 athletes competed in the 2025 Nghe An Open Youth Pickleball Tournament, held for the first time in Nghe An.
On the morning of June 14, in Vinh City, Nghe An Provincial Youth Union - Provincial Team Council coordinated with Vinh University Pickleball Club to organize the opening ceremony of the Nghe An Open Youth Pickleball Tournament 2025.
Attending the opening ceremony were comrade Nguyen Phuong Thuy - Secretary of Nghe An Provincial Youth Union, along with representatives of agencies, departments, coaches and a large number of fans.
This is the first time the tournamentPickleballfor youth held in Nghe An, attracting nearly 200 young athletes from many localities in the province and provinces across the country.
Speaking at the ceremony, comrade Tran Linh - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union, Chairman of the Provincial Youth Union Council affirmed: "Including Pickleball, a relatively new sport in Vietnam, into the summer activity program is a creative effort to expand healthy and useful sports playgrounds for young people. This is also a practical activity to promote the socialization of sports, especially in Vinh City and the whole Nghe An province".
This year's tournament includes 8 competitions, divided by age and singles and doubles format, specifically: U10 singles and doubles (athletes born from 2015 onwards), U12 singles and doubles (born from 2013 onwards), U14 singles and doubles (born from 2011 onwards), and U17 singles and doubles (born from 2008 onwards).
A special feature of this tournament is the expanded regulation that allows female athletes to register to compete in an age group one level lower. In doubles events, female athletes are also paired to compete in a lower age group with male athletes of the right age.
The tournament not only brings together talented young athletes from Nghe An but also many players from other provinces, contributing to improving professional quality as well as creating opportunities for young people who love Pickleball to exchange and learn.
The Nghe An Open 2025 Youth Pickleball Tournament is part of a series of summer activities launched by the Nghe An Provincial Youth Union, promising to become an annual playground, contributing to diversifying sports and physical education activities in the youth community.
The tournament will take place on June 14 and 15.
