Youth group washes cars to raise funds for Mid-Autumn Festival gifts

(Baonghean.vn) - On September 20, the Youth Union of Dien Thinh commune coordinated with the Youth Union of Dien Thanh commune Border Guard Station to organize a car wash to raise funds to buy gifts for poor and disabled children on the occasion of Mid-Autumn Festival 2018.

From early morning, nearly 20 youth union members of Dien Thinh commune together with the Youth Union of Dien Thanh commune Border Guard Station gathered to wash cars in the center of Dien Thinh commune to raise charity funds.

Although they are not professional car washers, the union members and youth work very attentively. In just one morning, they washed more than 50 cars.

With the car wash price of 20,000 VND/time, many people found the work meaningful so they were willing to pay extra for the car wash. In addition, many passersby, although not washing their cars, also stopped to donate to the Union.

Ms. Dang Thi Nghia - Secretary of Dien Thinh Commune Youth Union said: This is the 6th fundraising car wash in 2018 of the commune youth union. It is expected that today we will wash about 100 cars, raising over 2 million VND. All this money will be used to buy gifts for poor and disabled children in the commune on this Mid-Autumn Festival.

Mr. Le Viet Dung - Secretary of Dien Chau District Youth Union said: This is an extremely meaningful activity for children in difficult circumstances to enjoy the Mid-Autumn Festival. Currently, many other localities are also implementing this model very well, such as Dien Trung and Dien Dong communes... On average, each unit organizes car washes 6-8 times a year, raising about 10 million VND for charity.
