In Toronto, the city with the most dynamic economy in Canada, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Van Ninh met with 28 leading Canadian businesses.
Among the 28 business representatives present, there were many businesses that were familiar with Vietnam such as Talisman, Healthcare, Menulife… Leaders of these businesses all expressed their joy when meeting Deputy Prime Minister Vu Van Ninh and leaders of Vietnamese ministries and branches to make recommendations on policies for foreign investors.
The interest of Canadian businesses is also consistent with the statistics of both sides such as: Two-way trade turnover has continuously increased in recent years when the world economy is in crisis and recovering slowly. In 2012, two-way trade turnover reached nearly 2 billion USD. Total investment capital of Canadian businesses in Vietnam reached 4.7 billion USD.
Appreciating the message from the Vietnamese Government, businesses that have invested in Vietnam reported their positive business results in recent years, and at the same time wished to learn more about Vietnam's policies and guidelines in specific areas such as: Equitization of State-owned enterprises; policies in calling for investment in agriculture, tourism, transport infrastructure, healthcare, etc.
Deputy Prime Minister Vu Van Ninh and representatives of the Government Office, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development took turns answering questions from Canadian businesses, thereby affirming that Vietnam has identified development strategies for the above fields and invited Canadian businesses to come to Vietnam to seek investment opportunities.
Several large Canadian enterprises said they will soon send delegations to Vietnam to implement specific cooperation and business projects.
