Australian businesses seek opportunities to produce and trade wine in Nghe An
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of June 8, the Provincial People's Committee had a meeting with Cassegrain Wines, Australia, to seek investment cooperation opportunities in wine production and trading in Nghe An.

Attending the meeting, on the Australian business side, there was Mr.John Cassegrain - Director of Cassegrain Wines. On behalf of Nghe An province, there were comrades: Le Ngoc Hoa - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Le Tien Tri - Director of the Investment Promotion and Support Center and representatives of the Provincial People's Committee Office, departments, branches, and related units and enterprises.
Comrade Le Ngoc Hoa expressed his joy at welcoming Mr. John Cassegrain to Nghe An to learn about investment cooperation, emphasizing the friendly cooperation between Vietnam and Australia, between Nghe An and some localities and Australian enterprises. He also hoped that Mr. John Cassegrain's visit and work would contribute to promoting investment cooperation between Nghe An and Australian enterprises to develop further in the coming time.

Comrade Le Ngoc Hoa pledged that the leaders of Nghe An province and departments and branches will create conditions to provide maximum support for businesses to research and invest in Nghe An; affirming that Nghe An is an attractive destination for investors in production and business.
The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also introduced to the delegation of Cassegrain Wines Company information about the investment environment in Nghe An province.

Mr. John Cassegrain also introduced the characteristics of wine production and trading in Australia; at the same time, he affirmed that cooperation and wine trading in Nghe An has great potential; besides, there are many opportunities for cooperation in other fields. In the wine production industry, Australian enterprises are currently focusing on investing in the Asian market, focusing on wine production and hotel business with the exploitation of labor advantages... Investment cooperation between Australian enterprises in Nghe An will be an opportunity for both sides to support each other in development, production and business.
At the meeting, representatives of a number of wine trading and consumption enterprises in the province, representatives of a number of departments, branches, and the Association of Small and Medium Enterprises discussed and proposed ideas on promoting cooperation in wine investment and business with Australian enterprises in Nghe An; especially promoting the direct import of wine from Australia.
The two sides also discussed the conditions for production, business and cooperation between Cassegrain Wines Company and Nghe An enterprises and Nghe An authorities with the aim of supporting each other and benefiting both sides. Mr. John Cassegrain said that after this meeting, he would encourage a number of Australian enterprises to promote investment in wine production and business in Nghe An; in which, he would pay attention to the direct import of wine from Australia to Nghe An.

Nghe An has 26 wholesale establishments and 560 retail establishments selling alcohol in the province that fully comply with procedures and are licensed according to regulations. In 2017, the total revenue from alcohol trading in the area was estimated at about 280 - 300 billion VND (equivalent to 12.3 - 13.8 million USD), of which the revenue from wine trading was about 70 billion VND (equivalent to about 3 million USD), accounting for about 25% of the total revenue from alcohol trading.
According to statistics from the Customs Department, there are currently no businesses directly importing wine in Nghe An province.
