On the afternoon of March 20, the Vietnamese Embassy in Russia held an annual meeting with representatives of Russian businesses and media.

In his opening speech at the meeting, Ambassador Pham Xuan Son reviewed the situation in Vietnam over the past year, especially the success of the 11th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam with the approval of the strategy to develop Vietnam into an industrialized country by 2020 and the success of the new National Assembly election as well as the country's achievements in all aspects.

Regarding relations with the Russian Federation, the Ambassador emphasized that the Vietnam-Russia relationship, characterized by traditional friendship, trust, comprehensive cooperation and strategic partnership, has been raised to a new level in quality and is increasingly strengthened. The two countries are drafting and preparing to sign a free trade agreement (FTA) to further promote each other's potential, which both sides consider to be unworthy of the increasingly strengthened political relationship.

First Deputy General Director of the Russian News Agency ITAR-TASS, Mr. Mikhail Kalmykov, reviewed the arduous war years and emphasized the great achievements that the Vietnamese people have made during the period of peaceful construction, first of all in the Doi Moi process led by the Party.
