On the afternoon of February 22, in Hanoi, the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and the Vietnam Young Talent Support Fund held a press conference to introduce the voting and honoring activities of the 2020 Outstanding Young Vietnamese Faces Award.

Co-chairing the press conference were representatives of the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and representatives of Tien Phong newspaper, Head of the Organizing Committee of the 2020 Outstanding Young Vietnamese Faces Award.

At the press conference, Mr. Phung Cong Suong, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Tien Phong Newspaper, said: In 2020, the Vietnam Young Talent Support Fund received 154 valid applications from 44 units, including 112 male and 42 female applications; 13 of whom were ethnic minorities. The person with the highest academic title was a trainee professor; the oldest nominee was 35 years old, the youngest was 14 years old.

Based on discussion, evaluation, appraisal and analysis of each profile, the Council for the 2020 Outstanding Young Vietnamese Faces Award conducted a secret ballot to select 20 nominees in 10 fields for the online voting round.

Evaluating the nominations for the 2020 Outstanding Young Vietnamese Faces Award, Standing Secretary of the Central Youth Union Bui Quang Huy emphasized that the 2020 nominations are all individuals with outstanding achievements and expressed his hope that the young faces will be an inspiration for Vietnamese youth to learn from and follow.

The Outstanding Young Vietnamese Faces Award is one of the activities of the Vietnam Young Talent Support Fund, with the aim of honoring typical young people under 35 years old, with outstanding achievements. The award hopes to create a widespread spread in the community about the efforts and striving to excel in the fields of study, scientific research, physical education, sports, labor, production, national defense, etc.

Thereby, the program contributes to creating motivation to develop young talents and promote the emulation movement of studying, training, scientific research, labor, and creativity of young people; consolidate and develop the Youth Union, Association, and Team organizations. The program also aims to attract the attention of all levels, sectors and the whole society to the cause of education and training of the young generation to continue to promote their capacity and prestige to contribute to the community and society.

The ceremony to honor the Outstanding Young Vietnamese Faces of 2020 is expected to be held on the occasion of the founding anniversary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union on March 26. After the ceremony, the Outstanding Young Vietnamese Faces of 2020 and the Promising Young Vietnamese Faces of 2020 will "return to their roots" to report their achievements to the Hung Kings.
