Chinese businessman suspected of leading drug gang arrested in Vietnam
The 56-year-old suspect and his lover used a garment company as a front to trade and transport tons of drugs across countries.
On March 21, the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department (Ministry of Public Security) said it was taking statements from nearly 20 suspects related to the seizure of 300 kg of methamphetamine in Ho Chi Minh City. Most of these people are Chinese nationals, 3 are Vietnamese; they are part of a ring that bought and sold and transported tons of drugs from the Golden Triangle to Vietnam.

After a long period of stalking, yesterday afternoon, hundreds of scouts from the Ministry of Public Security, the Southern Border Guard, Ho Chi Minh City Police, Dak Nong... surrounded and arrested this group of people in front of Hasan Company in the residential area of Binh Hung Hoa B Ward (Binh Tan District, Ho Chi Minh City). This garment export business company is registered under the name of a 40-year-old woman - the lover of a 56-year-old Chinese drug lord.
Authorities controlled many people and seized hundreds of nylon packages containing 300 kg of crystal meth in a pickup truck parked in front of Hasan Company - estimated to be worth 600 billion VND.
The company's warehouse is a row of old, level-four houses with corrugated iron roofs, but it is equipped with cameras everywhere and guarded by many security guards. There are many sacks of goods here that match the evidence from previous "huge" drug busts in Ha Tinh, Quang Tri, Dak Nong...
According to the investigation agency, during the 5 years of its establishment, Hasan Company only had 40 garment declarations. This enterprise was a front for the Chinese drug lord to carry out the transit and trade of contraband goods. His accomplices rented houses and hotels nearby for convenient exchange and surveillance.
The Vietnamese security guards were hired to look after the warehouse but had no idea what the company was doing. Every time they imported “goods,” the Chinese group chased them away.

Previously, the Ministry of Public Security discovered many "huge" drug cases related to this line. For example, on February 17, authorities seized nearly 300 kg of drugs transported through the Cau Treo border gate area, arresting the ringleader Vangchueyang Briachear (25 years old, Lao nationality).
Or in October 2018, a pickup truck carrying more than 300 kg of crystal meth was discovered by authorities in Quang Binh province. The Laotian suspect confessed that he was hired to transport the drugs for a group of Chinese people from Ha Tinh to Da Nang for a fee of 10,000 USD.
The Ministry of Public Security is coordinating with many provinces and cities to expand the investigation.
