"The outer part of the car is made from flax fibres and PP (polypropylene) plastic, which is pressed and heated to create flat panels. The biodegradable polylactic acid plastic in a honeycomb structure in the middle increases the strength and reduces the weight of the insulation panels," says Yanic Van Riel.
The structure is made from bio-based materials with the same strength as fiberglass, making the car light while reducing the size of the battery pack. "The car weighs only 310 kg. That's why we only need 30 kg of battery to drive about 100 km in a city environment such as braking, stopping, accelerating,4 times more efficient than a conventional electric car",Noud Van De Gevel said.
Lina has a maximum speed of about 80km/h. Near-field communication technology (NFC) allows the car to automatically store driver information. This feature makes the car suitable for car-sharing applications that are being developed.
Lina has a system that displays the vehicle's speed and parameters on the windshield so that the driver can simultaneously observe both the index and the road. The team hopes the prototype will soon be deemed safe enough to be tested on the streets of the country.Eindhoven.
