This school year, Le Khanh Hung is the only student of Hung Dung Secondary School to pass 2 intense rounds to become an official member of Vinh city to participate in the Provincial Chemistry Competition for 9th graders. However, in the competition that gathered many excellent students from 20 districts and cities, Hung admitted that his ability was still limited. Therefore, achieving the third prize for Hung was a success.

This male student also said that the desire to enter a specialized school was nurtured by him and his mother since he was in middle school. Therefore, from grade 6, when his classmates were just starting to get acquainted with Natural Sciences, Hung was taken by his mother to ask the teacher to teach him Chemistry but was refused because he was too young. It was not until grade 7, when he had a basic foundation, that Hung began to study Chemistry systematically.

By the summer of 8th grade, before preparing for the specialized exam, Hung "accelerated" to complete the 9th grade Math and English program.

Thanks to that, during the remaining 9 months, most of his time was focused on Chemistry. Only at the final moment did Hung start to speed up, reorganizing the 4 subjects, in which he prioritized Literature because he thought this was the weakest subject. After completing the 10th grade entrance exam, Hung's base score was 27.50 points, which was in line with his ability.

As for the entrance exam to specialized schools, when Hung finished the exam, he found the test “quite normal” so he believed that many better students would get high scores. When he received the results and learned that he got 18.88 points and won the top position, Hung was overwhelmed with surprise. Because in the previous practice tests, he only got 12-14 points because he often made silly mistakes. So after the exam, when he reviewed the test, he saw that he only got one question wrong related to the 8th grade theory part, but he only dared to give himself 17 points and never thought that he would be the top student.

Talking about the journey to become the new valedictorian, the male student from Hung Dung Secondary School said that this was not easy, especially for a student who did not come from a specialized school. In fact, for many months, Hung had a very long period of time "burying his head in books", studying at school and in class more than at home and most of his dinners were on the bus because many classes were back to back. The biggest motivation that helped him overcome this pressure was his love for Chemistry and his desire to assert himself.

I love Chemistry so I don't find it hard to study and do a lot of exercises. On the contrary, after each difficult exercise and successfully solving it, I feel excited and encouraged to try harder.

Valedictorian of Literature: Even on "silent notes" still keep trying

In the same class as Le Khanh Hung, Nguyen Ngoc Linh is also a female student who brought something special to class 9A in this year's exam season when she scored 17.75 points, becoming the valedictorian of the Literature major at Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted. This is the specialized class with the highest competition rate, so being the valedictorian was something that even Linh herself was very surprised about.

Talking about this year's exam season, Linh shared that although she knew it would be very difficult, she was excited because this was the first exam to be conducted according to the 2018 General Education Program and the Literature exam was given in an "open direction", helping candidates develop their abilities. This was also the reason why when receiving the specialized exam, although she felt it was very long, Linh still tried to use 150 minutes to do the test and completed 16 pages full of words.

I like the social discussion question about youth and the notes. I define the notes as opposites. If the notes represent the sweet success, the notes are the difficulties and challenges that people have to face. In fact, not only me but everyone will experience these states. Linh shared that, for all 9th ​​graders, before important exams, they all have a lot of pressure, on themselves, on their teachers, on their friends and on the expectations of their families. At that time, she was very tired but still tried to finish all the papers for the teacher to mark and correct. Why did you choose Literature? Because Linh grew up in a literary cradle, with both her parents being Literature teachers. Her biggest turning point during her junior high school years was changing her learning environment from Dang Chanh Ky Secondary School (Nam Dan District) to Hung Dung Secondary School (Vinh City) and here, her teachers soon discovered her talent and gave her the opportunity to express herself. During her time studying and studying Literature, Linh admitted that she was not a student who read much. However, under the guidance of her teachers and parents, Linh learned to read books quite selectively and applied the knowledge in the books to her writing.

I was not surprised to learn that Linh was the valedictorian of this year's exam. She is a strict teacher and often has high demands on each student. Although Linh herself has been criticized by her teacher many times, she is very open-minded and shows her passion for literature.
