Phan Van Duc and Pham Xuan Manh are two players from the rice-growing Yen Thanh countryside, who played in the Nghe An Newspaper Cup Youth Football Tournament in 2007 and won the runner-up position. After being recruited to the SLNA academy together, the two players born in 1996 together achieved success in the SLNA youth team, such as winning the National U17 Football Championship in 2012 and becoming runner-up in the National U17 Football Championship in 2014.

Since joining SLNA's first team in 2016, both young talents of SLNA have been trusted by coaches Ngo Quang Truong and Nguyen Duc Thang and have left their mark. After helping the Nghe An team win the 2017 National Cup, the two close friends continued to help SLNA U21 win the gold medal at the 2017 National U21 Football Championship before being called up by coach Park Hang Seo to the Vietnam U23 team to participate in the AFC U23 Championship.

In the miracle of Vietnamese football at that tournament, Phan Van Duc and Pham Xuan Manh were two outstanding players, making great contributions to the runner-up position of U23 Vietnam.

During the ceremony to celebrate the 87th anniversary of the founding of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, Nghe An Provincial Youth Union organized to honor outstanding youth union members in 2018 in various fields and awarded 8 Ly Tu Trong Awards to outstanding cadres and youth in 2018. In which, Pham Xuan Manh and Phan Van Duc were honored among 22 outstanding union members of Nghe An.

After competing in round 3 of V.League 2018, tomorrow (March 24), Van Duc, Xuan Manh and his teammates at SLNA will join the national team with coach Park Hang Seo to prepare for the match against Jordan in the 2019 Asian Cup qualifiers./.
