Confrontation in Russia-US relations is very tense
(Baonghean.vn) - On September 4, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov affirmed that confrontation and tensions in relations between Russia and the US are increasing.

“Given the political heat and tone that goes far beyond what was considered diplomatic courtesy not long ago, confrontation and tensions are growing,” Lavrov said in an interview on Russia’s Channel One TV.
“The United States has initiated NATO's move towards our borders not simply through the admission of new members from Russia's neighbors, but also in the form of deploying military facilities along our borders,” he asserted.
Lavrov added that Washington is using the US dollar as a tool of pressure, violating its obligations.
“The most obvious example is the US dollar, the international monetary system. Is it a rule? I think it is. People have accepted it, have lived with it for many years, and expect the US to honor its obligations as the issuer of this important global reserve currency,” he said.
“What is happening to the dollar? Washington is manipulating the currency at its will,” the senior Russian diplomat added.
According to the Russian Foreign Minister, the US is using the USD as a tool when “they want to sanction anyone”. He noted: “They immediately stop servicing any banking operations using USD. Notably, they do this not only with each country they want to sanction, but also with every other country that has one or another relationship with it”.
