Vietnam-China defense strategy dialogue
The third Vietnam-China Deputy Ministerial Defense Strategy Dialogue took place this morning (September 3) in Hanoi.
Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh, Deputy Minister of National Defense of Vietnam, and Senior Lieutenant General Ma Xiaotian, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, co-chaired the Dialogue. The Dialogue took place in a spirit of honesty, friendship and constructiveness.

The purpose of the 3rd Defense Strategic Dialogue is to continue to affirm the consistent stance in defense relations between Vietnam and China, contributing to promoting the implementation of high-level statements and agreements, and promoting defense relations between the two countries.
Welcoming Senior Lieutenant General Ma Xiaotian to attend the Dialogue, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh affirmed that Vietnam values the friendly relationship with China and wishes to work with China to build sustainable peace and contribute to world peace.
Expressing his appreciation for the Dialogue, Senior Lieutenant General Ma Xiaotian said that this event contributes significantly to promoting bilateral friendship.
At the Dialogue, both sides expressed satisfaction with the development of cooperation between the two countries' militaries. Defense cooperation has become one of the important factors in the Vietnam-China friendship.
With the desire to promote relations, the two sides agreed to continue to regularly exchange delegations at all levels, to increase mutual understanding and build close relations between the two countries' armies; strengthen training cooperation; promote exchanges, cooperation and coordination between the Navy and Border Guard.
The dialogue took place in a spirit of honesty, friendship and constructiveness.
Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh suggested that the Border Guard forces of the border provinces of Vietnam and China consider establishing a twinning relationship to strengthen solidarity and friendship. Vietnam also hopes that the two sides will conduct exchanges between strategic research agencies and enhance cooperation between military media agencies.
The two sides also discussed many international and regional issues affecting national security and economic development, as well as sabotage plots against the revolutions of the two countries. The Vietnamese side continued to affirm its views, including the issue of territorial sovereignty.
The dialogue also aims to affirm to countries around the world the good relationship between Vietnam and China, despite disagreements at sea; and to oppose distorted arguments that exploit the division between the two countries.
At the end of the Dialogue, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh and Senior Lieutenant General Ma Hieu Thien witnessed the signing ceremony of an agreement to expand training cooperation between the two countries' armies./.
