Because the transportation sponsor was not licensed for a direct flight, the team had to plan to fly from Hanoi to Dubai (UAE), then continue to Riyadh (Saudi Arabia). However, on August 27, VFF received information about problems in the second leg, not enough tickets were booked for the team.
"I have discussed with Saudi Arabia about Vietnam's problem. They immediately supported by sending a special plane to Dubai to pick up Coach Park Hang-seo and his team," said VFF Permanent Vice President Tran Quoc Tuan. "Thanks to that, the team's travel was more convenient and less laborious."

The team is expected to land in Dubai at 5:30 a.m. (local time). Saudi Arabia will arrange for Coach Park and his team to have two and a half hours to collect their belongings and complete procedures before taking the one and a half hour flight. Goalkeeper Dang Van Lam flew directly from Japan to the UAE, and also took the same plane to Riyadh.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the teams will operate in a "safe bubble". Therefore, all members will only be able to move from the hotel to the training ground and the field, without contact with outsiders.
This is the first time Vietnam has entered the final qualifying round of the World Cup. The team will play its opening match on September 2nd at Saudi Arabia, and five days later host Australia at My Dinh.
Ronaldo debuts for Man Utd on September 11
Ronaldo will stay in Portugal until the 2022 World Cup European qualifiers against Ireland on September 1 and Azerbaijan on September 7. After the match against Azerbaijan in Baku, he will fly back to Manchester to join up with Man Utd. Therefore, Ronaldo will not be able to play Man Utd's away match at Wolverhampton this Sunday (August 29).
