Vietnam's first opponent arrives in Phu Tho; Vietnam women's team's mainstay says goodbye to SEA Games 31

The first opponent of U23 Vietnam is present in Phu Tho

U23 Myanmar with 29 players landed in Hanoi on the afternoon of May 1, then moved to Phu Tho to prepare to attend the 31st SEA Games.

On the afternoon of May 1, U23 Myanmar arrived at Noi Bai International Airport (Hanoi), preparing to enter the 31st SEA Games campaign. This is the first team from Southeast Asia to come to Vietnam.

U23 Myanmar was awarded by the Organizing Committee of SEA Games 31facilitate quick entry, then move to Viet Tri (Phu Tho). In the group stage, U23 Myanmar stayed in the same hotel with U23 Indonesia, U23 Philippines and U23 Timor Lester.

U23 Myanmar arrived in Viet Tri on the afternoon of May 1.

Before coming to Vietnam, U23 Myanmar had a training trip in the UAE. Coach Veliza Popov and his team had 4 friendly matches there with local teams.

After this training match, Coach Popov shortened the list to 29 players, including 4 players over 23 years old. Before the opening match against U23 Timor Lester on May 8, the Bulgarian strategist officially finalized the list of 20 players registered with the Organizing Committee.

In group A, besides Indonesia, U23 Myanmar is also a formidable opponent.U23 Vietnam.Coach Veliza Popov's team is expected to have its first training session in Viet Tri on May 3.

HAGL was rewarded by VFF after winning Sydney

Coach Kiatisuk Senamuang and his team received a reward of 500 million VND after having their first win in the AFC Champions League 2022 on the evening of May 1.

Immediately after HAGL defeated Sydney FC 1-0, on behalf of the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan, acting President of VFF, sent congratulations and awarded HAGL 500 million VND.

Currently, the bonus for HAGL from VFF is 900 million VND. Previously, the mountain town team was awarded 200 million VND/match by VFF after drawing with Sydney (on April 19) and Jeonbuk (on April 25).

Coach Kiatisuk was happy with the fans after the 1-0 win over Sydney.

This is not the final number. Coach Kiatisuk and his team also received bonuses from several sponsors thanks to their impressive performance in Group H, AFC Champions League.

In the press conference after the victory over Sydney, coach Kiatiusk shared: "Before entering the tournament, many people, including commentators and some newspapers, thought that HAGL would not gain any points in the group of death. However, we tried very hard. I am proud of the players."

Vietnam women's team's pillar ruptures ligament, says goodbye to SEA Games 31

Coach Mai Duc Chung expressed regret that mainstay midfielder Thai Thi Thao could not attend.SEA Games 31due to serious injury.

On May 1, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) announced the list of women's players participating in the 31st SEA Games. Thai Thi Thao was absent due to a torn anterior cruciate ligament. The three remaining players eliminated were Nguyen Thi Thuy Hang, Pham Thi Lan Anh and Tran Nguyen Bao Chau.

Thai Thi Thao (number 17) and the Vietnamese women's team won the right to attend the 2023 World Cup.

The absence of Thai Thi Thao is a heavy loss for the Vietnamese women's team. She is a mainstay, having played 36 times and scored 12 goals for the national team. In the journey to win a ticket to the 2023 Women's World Cup, Thai Thi Thao also contributed significantly and scored a goal in the 2-0 victory over Thailand.

Coach Mai Duc Chung shared: "Thai Thi Thao's case is very unfortunate, no one wants it. The criteria for shortening the list were also clearly defined by the coaching staff with the players beforehand."

Son Heung-min scores twice to put Tottenham in top 4
