SLNA captain's injury takes longer than expected, Xuan Thang is out for the rest of the season
(Baonghean.vn) - Center back Hoang Van Khanh and midfielder Cao Xuan Thang have arrived at the PVF Center for treatment and recovery from their injuries. It is likely that the SLNA captain and his teammates will have to rest longer than expected to ensure they do not relapse.
On June 8, center back Hoang Van Khanh and midfielder Cao Xuan Thang went to PVF Center for injury treatment. Both SLNA players suffered from the same type of injury: ligament sprain. Before that, the two players went to Hanoi to have their injuries checked and were diagnosed with a 1-month break.
Sharing about the situation after 2 days of treatment at PVF, center back Van Khanh said: “My injury is not serious, but I need a lot of time to rest, fully recover, and avoid re-injury after playing continuously. Currently, my injury is recovering well.”

As for midfielder Cao Xuan Thang, he will certainly join SLNA later than his teammates because the 1993-born player of SLNA has quite a history of injuries. The level of Xuan Thang's ligament injury is also more complicated and he may even have to sit out the entire 2020 season.
Van Khanh's injury has caused SLNA to face a crisis in the central defender position. However, in the match against SHB Da Nang, the duo Gustavo Santos and Thai Ba Sang played relatively stably, helping SLNA maintain their form and keep a clean sheet. In the winger position, in addition to Van Duc - Tuan Tai, SLNA's coaching staff still has many other options such as Dinh Tien and Ngoc Anh.

In case central defender Van Khanh has to rest for more than 1 month, SLNA will be without their captain for most of the first leg, including the recent matches against SHB Da Nang, away to Thanh Hoa, Hanoi, welcoming Ho Chi Minh City, and away to Nam Dinh.
However, if the treatment time has to be extended as required by the doctors at PVF, the Nghe An team will not even have Van Khanh's service in the away match against Quang Nam on July 5.
