(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of May 12, the People's Court of Quynh Luu district opened a first-instance criminal trial and sentenced defendant Nguyen Van Hoa (born June 18, 1985, residing in Hamlet 12, Quynh Giang Commune, Quynh Luu District) for the crime of "resisting a person on official duty".

According to the indictment, at about 3:30 p.m. on February 21, 2015, the Traffic Police Team of Quynh Luu District Police, consisting of 5 officers and soldiers, led by Lieutenant Colonel Vo Quang Trung - Deputy Team Leader, inspected National Highway 1A at km 407 (Quynh Giang Commune, Quynh Luu District) and discovered a motorbike without a license plate, without rearview mirrors, and the person on the motorbike was not wearing a helmet, driven by two young men, revving the engine and weaving at high speed in the direction of Hanoi - Vinh City. Immediately, the officers and soldiers in the Traffic Police Team signaled to stop the vehicle for inspection.

However, not only did they not obey the order, the two subjects drove their motorbikes at high speed and then crashed into the traffic police team, opened the back door of the force's specialized vehicle, and pulled out an iron pipe to attack the force on duty, seriously injuring Major Nguyen Trong Phuc who had to be hospitalized for emergency treatment.

Immediately after that, the working group chased and arrested Nguyen Van Hoa. During the process of consolidating the file and expanding the investigation, Hoa confessed that the person sitting behind his motorbike was his younger brother Nguyen Van Thanh who also participated in the crime. However, after committing the crime, Thanh fled the area and has not been arrested yet.

Based on the testimony and witnesses, along with the forensic examination results of the authorities as well as the provisions of the law, the People's Court of Quynh Luu district sentenced defendant Nguyen Van Hoa to 15 months in prison under Clause 1 of Article 257 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
