According to the history of Lien Thanh commune, Bach Ma temple has existed for nearly 1,000 years, built by Uy Minh Vuong Ly Nhat Quang himself to worship his father King Ly Cong Uan - Ly Thai To; to worship his mother Trinh Minh Hoang Hau Le Thi Phat Ngan; to worship his grandmother Queen Mother Duong Van Nga; his brother King Ly Thai Tong and the heroes and righteous men of the Ly dynasty.
Bach Ma Temple not only has historical and cultural value, since the 30s and 40s of the last century, the Temple was a meeting place for cadres and party members of Van Tu Party Cell, Yen Thanh Party Cell, a place to hide documents of the Party organization, a place to print, hide, and transfer secret documents and issues of the newspapers: Chop Chains, Untie the Yoke, and Leadership of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee, Central Region Party Committee; and an air defense guard post during the war against the destructive war of American imperialism.
Currently, the temple still preserves many valuable cultural artifacts, and is a place for the local people to entrust their spirituality. Over the course of history, the temple has now been degraded. In mid-2011, with the help of donors and contributions from the people, Bach Ma Temple was invested in upgrading and restoring. It is a sacred and respectful place to worship the father and mother of Uy Minh Vuong Ly Nhat Quang, with an altar to 125 martyrs of Lien Thanh commune who died in the two resistance wars against France and the US.
