Awarding of Provincial Certificate of Recognition of DTLS at Thuong Dien Temple |
Thuong Dien Temple was built by local people in the 14th century to worship Cao Son, Cao Cac, Duc Thanh Tran, Tam Toa Thanh Mau and the village's tutelary god, Admiral Nguyen Cu To - a talented general of King Tran Nhan Tong. For a long time, the Temple was a place for spiritual and cultural activities of the people in the area.
In 1930 - 1931, the Temple witnessed the loyalty of communist soldiers in the face of enemy torture. Later, the Temple was chosen by provincial agencies as a place to work during the years when the American invaders fiercely attacked the North. Through the vicissitudes of history, bombs and bullets of war, natural disasters and floods, Thuong Dien Temple was severely damaged. In 2009, with the consensus of authorities at all levels and contributions from the people, Thuong Dien Temple was restored on a grand and solemn scale.

Every year, the temple organizes many ritual activities imbued with national cultural identity, attracting a large number of people to participate.
On March 16, 2015, the People's Committee of Nghe An province issued a Decision to recognize Thuong Dien Temple as a provincial historical relic. This is the joy of the Party Committee and people of Nghi Loc district in general, and of the Party Committee, government and people of Nghi Dien commune in particular. The recognition of Thuong Dien Temple as a historical relic has created an important legal corridor to protect and promote the value of the relic in the future.
