Phuc Khanh Quan Cong Nguyen Canh Huy was born in 1473 in Tri Tuong village, Dai Dong commune, Nam Duong district, Anh Son prefecture (now Thanh Hung commune, Thanh Chuong district, Nghe An province) in a family of mandarins of the Le dynasty. In the first decades of the 16th century, Nguyen Canh Huy brought his children to guard the Nung Quan camp, organized militia to suppress bandits and reclaimed land to establish Tung Lam village (Thanh An and Thanh Chi communes today). After his death, the people of this area built a temple to worship him, the remains of which still exist today.
During the Le Dynasty's Restoration, he was a talented and courageous man who made great contributions to the dynasty. King Le Trang Tong assigned him to hold military power and granted him the title of Binh Duong Marquis. In 1536, Binh Duong Marquis Nguyen Canh Huy passed away and was buried in Con Chua, now Thanh Ngoc Commune (Thanh Chuong), at the age of 64.
Nguyen Canh Huy is a typical historical figure who made many contributions to the people, the country and the restoration of the Le dynasty in the 16th century.
