The National Assembly 'finalized' the end of the operation of district-level administrative units nationwide from July 1, 2025.

On the morning of June 16, at the 9th Session, the 15th National Assembly passed the Resolution on Amending and Supplementing a Number of Articles of the Constitution of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam with 470/470 delegates attending the meeting in favor.
Politburo: Study on merging some provinces, abolishing district-level administrative units

The Politburo requested research on the direction to continue to reorganize and eliminate intermediate administrative levels (district level); and the direction to merge some provincial-level administrative units.
