Opening his speech at the White House, President Donald Trump reaffirmed American values and highlighted the achievements since his election in all areas including economic growth, politics and foreign affairs. President Donald Trump emphasized that the United States needs a new national security strategy to respond to challenges to American values and influence and continue to pursue the "America First" policy.

President Donald Trump emphasized: “This strategy recognizes that we are in an era of global competition in the economic, military, and political realms. We face rogue states that threaten the United States and our allies. We face terrorist organizations, transnational criminal networks, and organizations that spread violence and evil around the world.

We also face rival nations like Russia and China that seek to challenge American influence, values, and prosperity. We will seek to build a major partnership with those nations with the goal of always defending our values. With the release of our new national security strategy, I declare that America is in the fight and we will win.

The new strategy is a close combination of four core national interests, including: protecting the country and the American people; promoting prosperity; promoting peace through strength; and enhancing American influence. This document reflects President Donald Trump's desire to strengthen engagement with other countries within the framework of "reciprocal cooperation", in line with the "America First" vision.

President Donald Trump’s 2017 National Security Strategy is similar to the national security strategies of previous administrations. In this latest strategy, the Trump administration also clearly identifies the challenges that the United States is facing in the context of many changes in the world situation that are not favorable to the United States. These challenges are divided into three groups. First, countries such as China and Russia, which are seeking to build a new global order, both militarily and economically, competing with the United States for influence. Second, are countries that the United States classifies as “stubborn” or “rogue”.

These countries are specifically mentioned as Iran and North Korea, with their efforts to pursue weapons of mass destruction, support terrorism and other destabilizing activities. Third are non-domestic factors such as terrorist organizations and transnational criminal gangs. The most different point in the Trump administration's Strategy compared to the previous Obama administration is that it does not identify climate change as one of the risks to US national security.

Also in the National Security Strategy, the Trump administration has proposed many measures to deal with the above challenges. However, according to initial assessments by analysts, the Trump administration's measures are still general and do not clearly show what the US will have to do./.
