Ethnic people are only familiar with the sounds of gongs, flutes, and flutes.
Recently, the priests and dignitaries of Quan Lang Parish have been carrying out the plan to expand their influence to the mountainous districts - highlands. From there, they have built chapels, organized ceremonies, and illegally preached religion, causing much anger among the people. In fact, the disturbance in Trung Huong village, Yen Khe commune (Con Cuong) on the afternoon of July 1, 2012 was the peak of the above-mentioned anger. The vast majority of ethnic minorities in Western Nghe An, upon hearing the news, expressed their discontent and affirmed that Catholic rituals are not suitable to their customs, habits and spiritual cultural life.
(Baonghean)-Recently, the priests and dignitaries of Quan Lang Parish have been carrying out the plan to expand their influence to the mountainous districts - highlands.
Talking to us, Mr. Vi Kham Mun in Xieng Lip village, Yen Hoa commune (Tuong Duong) said: “I heard about the disturbance in Yen Khe commune (Con Cuong) because the priests performed rituals and preached illegally, affecting the security and order of the village. Actually, we Thai people follow the belief of worshiping our ancestors, the predecessors who gave birth to us. On holidays, every family prepares a tray of rice with bamboo tubes, grilled fish, grilled pork, mooc and some other products to offer to the altar to thank our ancestors, and to pray for good health and a good harvest of corn and rice in the year.”
Mr. Luong Cong Tinh, Cap Chang village, Yen Tinh commune (Tuong Duong) confided: "For generations, the Thai people have only known how to worship their ancestors, and are only familiar with the sound of gongs and the sounds of flutes and pipes during festivals." Similarly, Mrs. Lo Thi Xinh in Cam village, Cam Lam commune (Con Cuong) shared: "Here, we do not know how to read the Bible or sing hymns, we only know how to sing the melodies of the perch, the lam, and the nhuon on holidays, New Year's Day, weddings, and in the harvest festival..."
Going up to Ky Son district, we met Mr. Ly Chong Di, a Mong ethnic person in Son Ha village, Ta Ca commune. Mr. Di did not know much information about the above disturbance, but still affirmed: “The Mong people only have the religion of worshipping their ancestors. As for saying to abandon worshipping their ancestors to worship someone else, no Mong people would do that! Living in the mountains, the Mong people make friends with the panpipe, with the cu xia, lu tau melodies during the spring festival, celebrating Tet... that is enough”!
