On the morning of July 12, the Catholic Solidarity Committee of Nghe An province held a conference to review the patriotic emulation movement in the first 6 months of the year and deploy tasks for the last 6 months of 2024.

In the first 6 months of 2024, parishioners in the province donated 6,265 m2 land

In recent times, although the economic market has undergone many changes; epidemics and natural disasters have developed complicatedly... greatly affecting production, business activities and people's lives. However, parishioners in the province have overcome difficulties, boldly applied scientific and technical advances in production and animal husbandry; promoted and restored traditional occupations; developed construction, carpentry, welding, service activities, tourism, trade... contributing to the people of the province achieving many positive results in the first 6 months of 2024.

In particular, the movement "All people unite to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas" has been actively responded to by priests, pastoral councils of parishes, sub-parishes and parishioners. The spirit of volunteering to donate land, dismantle surrounding walls, contribute money and labor to widen roads has spread to many localities.

In the first 6 months of the year, parishioners in the province donated 6,265m2land; dismantle 1,576m2boundary wall, clearing of traffic curbs 7,331m2, participated in 11,560 working days, contributed over 12.9 billion VND, built 13.6 km of asphalt roads, 43.6 km of rural concrete roads, 3.5 km of drainage ditches... contributing to changing the appearance of the homeland to become more and more spacious, clean and beautiful.

Charitable and humanitarian activities have also received attention. Catholics have contributed to building and repairing many social welfare projects, thousands of gratitude houses, solidarity houses, and donated working days and household items worth nearly 6.3 billion VND...

Responding to the program "Tet for the poor" in the year of Giap Thin 2024, Xa Doai Bishop's House and parishes and sub-districts all organized charitable and humanitarian activities, such as giving rice, banh chung, warm blankets, clothes, money to poor households, lonely elderly people, and disabled people to celebrate Tet and welcome Spring... with a total amount of 1.5 billion VND.

Replicating new models and good practices in the patriotic emulation movement

Speaking at the conference, comrade Nguyen Duc Thanh - Vice Chairman of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee agreed with the 12 tasks set by the Vietnam Catholic Solidarity Committee of Nghe An province. At the same time, he hoped that in order to carry out the tasks well, in the coming time, the members of the Provincial Catholic Solidarity Committee will continue to promote their pioneering role among Catholics, rallying parishioners to carry out emulation movements well, and care for poor families and those in difficult circumstances.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee Nguyen Duc Thanh also emphasized: The Catholic Solidarity Committee needs to coordinate well in disseminating the law to the people in general and Catholics in particular, contributing to raising awareness of maintaining security, order and social safety.

Actively mobilize people to carry out patriotic emulation movements and enthusiastically respond to campaigns to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas in the area; replicate models of building green, clean and beautiful parishes; do a good job of grassroots reconciliation and promptly resolve conflicts arising in residential areas.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee also hopes that the Provincial Catholic Solidarity Committee will coordinate to prepare well for the 15th Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front of Nghe An Province for the 2024-2029 term. At the same time, proactively develop a plan to properly evaluate the emulation movements among Catholics in the area, thereby selecting truly outstanding examples to prepare for the upcoming Congress of Vietnamese Catholics.

At the conference, the Provincial Catholic Solidarity Committee launched a campaign to support the construction of houses for the poor in the province in the period of 2023 - 2025 with the goal of building 3 houses worth 50 million VND/house.
