(Baonghean.vn) - For several years now, the Mong ethnic people in Ky Son district have been growing grass and raising fattened cattle, bringing higher economic efficiency than raising free-range cattle as before.
Going up to the remote Ky Son district, to the communes where the Mong people live, there are green grass hills planted by the people to raise cows. In the villages, most households build barns to raise 1-3 fattened bulls.
According to the locals, the bulls are raised about 2-3 years old, separated from the herd, kept separately, and grass is cut every day to feed them. The cow pens are made of wood, simple but sturdy, and private, so the cows grow quickly. The cows are kept in pens for about 3 months before being sold. Each cow can be sold for 35-40 million VND, much more economically efficient than the previous free-range farming. When raised, the Mong people's cows are fat, have a lot of meat, and have high quality meat, so traders come to find them.
Some images of Mong people taking care of fattening cows were recorded by Nghe An Newspaper reporters during a working trip to Ky Son district.
