(Baonghean.vn) -This afternoon, September 6, comrade Dinh Viet Hong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Provincial Flood and Storm Prevention Committee, together with leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, inspected the flood prevention situation in Do Luong, Yen Thanh and Dien Chau districts.

For the past three days, in Do Luong district, the rainfall has been consistently above 300ml, the water levels of the rivers have risen rapidly, causing local flooding on many roads and flooding over 1,500 hectares of rice. The communes with large flooded areas are Hien Son (300ha), My Son (200ha), Quang Son (150ha)... The working group went to Quang Son commune, encouraged families with large flooded areas, and urged them to quickly implement plans to relocate their homes in the afternoon, in case the water level continues to rise. The People's Committee of Do Luong district has directed local forces to be on duty 24/7, implementing measures to relocate houses for households around the flooded area.

In Yen Thanh district, the rainfall measured from 7:00 a.m. on September 5 to 7:00 a.m. on September 6 was 315 ml. According to the report of Yen Thanh district People's Committee, up to this point, the whole district has had over 2,500 hectares of rice flooded. The rapid rise in river water and dams has also flooded some sections on Highway 538, 534 and currently National Highway 7 through Cong Thanh, Khanh Thanh and Vinh Thanh communes is deeply submerged in water, causing traffic jams. Floods have also flooded 150 hectares of ponds, flooded 3 hamlets with 1,000 households, flooded 2km of Bien Hoa dike, Bau Chen dike collapsed... Faced with the complicated developments of floods and storms, Yen Thanh district People's Committee has mobilized forces to open the gates at drainage systems, clear the flow to release water in rice fields and residential areas.

In Dien Chau district, the working group inspected the drainage culvert of Dien Thanh commune. Here, the Northern Irrigation One Member Co., Ltd. sent a force to be on duty 24/7 to monitor the situation of rain and flood. The company's force proceeded to collect water hyacinth and clear the flow. By 5:00 p.m. this afternoon, the flow at Dien Thanh culvert was basically cleared. Mr. Ho Ngoc Mai - Director of the Northern Irrigation One Member Co., Ltd. said: "We have sent a force of many healthy young men to Dien Thanh drainage culvert. This is an important drainage point of Dien Chau district that is currently blocked due to the large amount of water hyacinth. We have used all possible means to cut the water hyacinth above, divide it to create a flow for the flow...". By this afternoon, September 6, the entire Dien Chau district had flooded 1,000 hectares of rice.

Comrade Dinh Viet Hong encouraged and acknowledged the localities for their active implementation of plans to limit flooding caused by heavy rain. He requested the People's Committees of districts and communes to closely follow the scene and promptly report to the agricultural sector for timely handling; directed people to proactively grasp the flood situation and have plans to harvest ripe rice areas if the rain continues.
