(Baonghean.vn)-This morning, August 1, Mr. Dinh Viet Hong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee inspected the production situation of the Summer - Autumn crop in the two districts of Nam Dan and Hung Nguyen. Accompanying him were leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.

According to the report of Nam Dan District People's Committee, up to now, communes and towns in the district have planted over 8,700 hectares of crops, of which nearly 6,000 hectares of rice, over 1,300 hectares of beans, and 663 hectares of various vegetables. However, due to the epidemic situation as well as harsh weather, Nam Dan currently has 168 hectares of rice infected with stem borer disease. In addition to directing the good implementation of planting and disease prevention for Summer - Autumn crops, Nam Dan has also focused on doing a good job of disease prevention for livestock and poultry.

Through the actual inspection, Mr. Dinh Viet Hong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee noted that Nam Dan district needs to focus on doing a good job of preventing diseases for crops and livestock, preventing drought, especially focusing on forest fire prevention. Also this morning, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Dinh Viet Hong inspected Hung Nguyen district. Up to this point, Hung Nguyen has a total area of over 5,500 hectares of various crops, reaching 99% of the plan, of which hybrid rice is over 500 hectares. Currently, the crops are growing well. The rice area is currently in the stages of panicle initiation, standing and tillering. However, currently, the situation of the 4th and 5th generation of small leaf rollers has arisen and caused damage with an average density of 10 to 20 insects/m2, significantly affecting the growth of rice plants. Some rice areas are suffering from severe drought because the degraded irrigation canal system does not provide enough water for rice to grow.

Concluding the inspection program, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Dinh Viet Hong noted that in the coming time, Hung Nguyen district needs to focus on monitoring the development of crops, pests, epidemics and drought prevention. Regarding the district's proposals, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Dinh Viet Hong suggested that the district should have a specific project to submit to the province for approval to support funding for the construction and upgrading of a number of canal systems and irrigation dams to serve agricultural production. There should be a project on converting crops suitable to land and climate conditions to achieve higher productivity and efficiency./.
