(Baonghean.vn) - This afternoon, March 18, 2012, comrade Dinh Viet Hong - Vice Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee inspected the production situation in Tuong Duong district. Accompanying him were leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.

In the spring crop of 2012, Tuong Duong planted 1,200 hectares of corn, 1,100 hectares of sweet potatoes, 950 hectares of cassava and over 600 hectares of rice (of which 2/3 of the area was planted with high-yield hybrid rice). Currently, most of the crops are growing stably, some pests and diseases have appeared but have been prevented in time.

According to the plan, in 2012 Tuong Duong planted 1,700 hectares of production forest, to date nearly 700 hectares have been planted. The whole district currently has a total herd of over 43,500 buffaloes and cows, and a herd of over 26,800 pigs. Vaccination work for the spring crop has been implemented. The district also focuses on building comprehensive economic development models in the direction of farms, building a number of safe vegetable growing models.

Through the field inspection, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee acknowledged the efforts of Tuong Duong in directing agricultural production, and at the same time noted that the district needs to pay more attention to the following contents: complying with the crop calendar in agricultural production, replicating many economic development production models in the whole district, focusing on monitoring the disease situation on spring crops; doing a good job of disease prevention for livestock, paying attention to directing the implementation of the national goal of building new rural areas./.
