(Baonghean.vn) -This morning, April 17, a delegation of the Border Guard Command led by Major General Pham Huy Tap - Political Commissar of the Border Guard visited and worked in Nghe An. Comrade Ho Duc Phoc - Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and comrades in the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee received and worked with the delegation.

At the meeting, Major General Pham Huy Tap thanked the province for its attention to the Nghe An border guard force in the past time. He commented that despite the economic difficulties and limited budget, the province has always paid attention to ensuring border protection work. Nghe An is one of the few provinces in the country with a project on ensuring security and order in border areas. The Party Committee of the Border Guard Command highly appreciated the province's attention to the border guard force. Thanks to that, in 2012, the Nghe An Border Guard achieved many achievements and was awarded the Excellent Emulation Flag by the Border Guard Command for its good performance in all aspects of work, firmly protecting territorial sovereignty and security of the border and sea areas.

At the meeting, comrade Ho Duc Phoc - Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee informed about some geographical features and socio-economic situation of the province. Nghe An is the province with the longest border in the country with 419km (bordering 3 provinces of Laos), 82km of coastline and 2 islands with extremely important positions in territorial security. Over the past year, Nghe An has achieved many achievements in socio-economic aspects, with some fields leading the North Central region. He assessed that although it is a key area for sabotage by hostile forces, the border guards in particular and the armed forces in general have always excellently completed their tasks, coordinating with Party committees and authorities at all levels to maintain national security and prevent crime. In addition, the province and the Border Guard force have done a good job in international relations, creating deep affection with the people of the neighboring provinces of the Lao PDR that share the border. In the coming time, the tasks of the Border Guard, military and police forces will be very heavy, so closer coordination between these forces is needed to better protect sovereignty and border security.
