Comrade Ho Duc Phoc received and worked with the Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam.
On the morning of April 14, comrade Ho Duc Phoc - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee had a meeting and worked with Mr. YASU KI TANIZAKI - Ambassador of Japan to Vietnam. Also attending were comrade Thai Van Hang - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, and representatives of the Department of Foreign Affairs and the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.
On behalf of the government and people of Nghe An province, comrade Ho Duc Phoc expressed his sympathy and shared the losses that the Japanese people had to suffer in the recent earthquake and tsunami disaster. Nghe An province has launched a fundraising campaign to support Japan. He hoped that the Japanese government and people would soon overcome the difficulties, stabilize their lives and restore the economy.
Comrade Ho Duc Phoc also informed the Ambassador about some aspects of the socio-economic situation as well as investment projects of Japan in Nghe An. Currently, Japan is the country with the largest number of projects and the most effective investment capital in Nghe An. Through the Ambassador, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee proposed that the Japanese Government help Nghe An implement the project to build a thermal power plant in Dong Hoi with a total capacity of 4,200 MW, with a total investment of 2 billion USD and the project to upgrade and improve the irrigation system in Bac Nghe An worth 4,500 billion VND.
At the reception, the Japanese Ambassador thanked the Party, State and people of Vietnam as well as Nghe An province for their concern and sharing in helping the Japanese people overcome difficulties caused by the earthquake and tsunami. The Japanese Embassy will be a bridge for businesses and non-governmental organizations to invest in Nghe An. The Ambassador promised to create all favorable conditions to support and submit to the Japanese Government for approval of the two projects for implementation as soon as possible.
