Accompanying him were representatives of the Border Guard Command, the Provincial Border Guard Command, the Provincial Ethnic Minorities Committee and Con Cuong district.
The Dan Lai ethnic minority in Con Cuong district currently has 178 households with 869 people. Most of the households live in makeshift thatched houses, and many backward customs such as early marriage and incestuous marriage have not been eliminated, leading to the risk of racial decline.
The working group surveyed the living and production situation in 2 villages.
Implementing the Government's Decision 280/QD-TTg approving the Project "Conservation and sustainable development of the Dan Lai ethnic minority in the core zone of Pu Mat National Park, Con Cuong district, Nghe An province", from 2006 to now, all levels, sectors and forces have paid attention to investing in the construction of many projects such as health stations, schools, clean water works... put into use to serve the people. The border guard force has established 2 working groups "stationed" in 2 villages, regularly guiding and mobilizing people to actively increase production, eliminate hunger and reduce poverty; mobilizing school-age children to go to school; propagating to the people about family planning, the harmful effects of incestuous marriage, early marriage, contributing to improving the quality of the population, eliminating superstition and backward customs. Mobilizing households to remove livestock and poultry from under the house and floors, and keeping the village clean.
By early 2012, people had cultivated 18 hectares of spring-summer rice; making full use of alluvial land along rivers and streams to plant peanuts, corn, beans, etc. on 13 hectares. 100% of the families in the two villages had started to grow vegetables in their gardens, some of which were implementing the model of digging ponds to raise fish, gradually overcoming the frequent hunger situation as before.
The Vice Chairman and the working delegation visited the villages at the Khe Khang source, learned about and visited the people's lives, encouraged them to actively increase production to eliminate hunger and reduce poverty, stabilize their lives; and eliminate bad customs and practices, and backwardness so that the Dan Lai ethnic group can develop sustainably.
