Comrade Nguyen Huynh with the mark of the Soviet village in Cam Xuyen district (Ha Tinh)
Phung Luyen village and Chau Sa hamlet in Yen Hoa commune (Cam Xuyen district, Ha Tinh) were recognized by the State as Soviet villages. In that feat, there was the enthusiastic dedication of comrade Nguyen Huynh.
Comrade Nguyen Huynh was born in 1908 in a farming family in Phung Luyen village, Van Tan commune, now Yen Hoa commune, Cam Xuyen district, Ha Tinh province.

Yen Hoa, where comrade Nguyen Huynh was born, is a countryside rich in cultural traditions, patriotism and love of learning. Since childhood, his family sent him to study Chinese and Vietnamese. Growing up, he had to witness the people, who were hard-working and industrious, but their lives were still miserable because of the brutal oppression and exploitation of imperialism and feudalism. Therefore, Nguyen Huynh always nurtured a great ambition to make a revolution.
Immediately after the Ha Tinh Provisional Party Committee was established, in March 1930, 4 Party cells were established in Cam Xuyen, namely: Luong Dien, Kim Nac, Kha Luat, and Kieu Moc. On July 17, 1930, at Con Tho Temple, Kha Luat Village, Tho Ngoa Commune (now Cam Hung Commune), Cam Xuyen District Party Committee was established with comrade Nguyen Dinh Lien as Secretary.
At the end of 1930, the revolutionary movement of the masses grew stronger, the enemy increased repression and terror, so many comrades in Cam Xuyen District Party Committee were arrested one after another. In that situation, the Provincial Party Committee decided to shift the focus of activities to the North of Van Tan commune. Comrade Tran Hung (alias Hoang) was sent to Yen Hoa to do revolutionary activities, both teaching and propagating and enlightening the youth in the area about the revolution. Some students both studied culture and absorbed the morality and personality of their teacher, later becoming core members of the Party such as comrades Nguyen Huynh, Tran Dao...
In November 1930, comrade Nguyen Huynh was admitted to the Party, then was assigned by his superiors the task of propaganda, recruiting more Party members to establish Party cells and mass organizations. The result was that in early 1931, Yen Hoa commune had established three Party cells. Thach Khe Ha Party cell included comrade Nguyen Huynh (Secretary), Nguyen Nhuan, Pham Uyen, Nguyen Ba Ky. Yen Duong Party cell included comrade Tran Dao (Secretary), Tran Dien, Nguyen Man, Tran Ba Tuc. Yen Xa Party cell included comrade Nguyen Ngu (Secretary), Nguyen Trong Duc, Nguyen Trong Bien and mass organizations such as Red Self-Defense, Red Farmers, Communist Youth Union, and National Salvation Women were established one after another.
In February 1931, at comrade Tran Ba Tuc's house (Chau Sa hamlet), the Cam Xuyen District Party Committee was established, with members appointed by superiors including 3 comrades Tran Dao, Nguyen Huynh, Tran Dien, comrade Tran Dao was appointed as Secretary.
After establishing the executive committee, comrade Tran Dao moved to operate in the areas of Thach Khe Trung and Tong Ha Nhat (belonging to Thach Ha district), while comrades Nguyen Huynh and Tran Dien directly built and consolidated the revolutionary movement in Yen Duong, Phung Luyen, Yen Xa and gained experience in directing the general movement.
Also in February 1931, a rally at the Great Temple (Yen Hoa) led by comrades Tran Dao, Nguyen Huynh, and Tran Dien took place to propagate and encourage people to make revolution.
Under the leadership of the Cam Xuyen District Party Committee, the people of Yen Hoa continuously rose up to fight. Typical were the rallies in March 1931 at Nha Quan Pagoda (Ha Nhat Commune, Thach Ha District) with about 500 people from Yen Duong, Phung Luyen, Yen Xa villages and Ha Nhat Commune participating; nearly 600 people from Van Tan and Ha Nhat Communes demonstrated and chanted slogans.
Responding to the International Labor Day on May 1, comrade Nguyen Huynh and the Cam Xuyen district executive committee advocated mobilizing the masses to protest and march to the district to make demands for economic benefits and demonstrate revolutionary strength. On the morning of May 1, 1931, the people of Van Tan and Ha Nhat communes, along with a number of party members and people of My Due and Tho Ngoa communes, gathered at the Thuong Tuong temple (Cam Xuyen town) to protest. While the masses were listening to the speech, soldiers came and shot at the masses, killing two people.
After that demonstration, comrade Nguyen Huynh was arrested and taken to Yen Duong station. They used all kinds of cruel and savage torture, making him die and come back to life many times, but still could not get anything out of him so they had to release him.
To meet the leadership needs in the new situation, on June 25, 1931, the District Party Congress took place at the house of comrade Nguyen Ky in Yen Nhan village (Yen Hoa). The newly elected District Party Executive Committee included: Tran Dao (Secretary), Nguyen Huynh, Dang Trong Phuong, Tran Diem, Nguyen Ngu and Tran Huu.
During this time, the enemy began a new campaign of terror. They moved their base from Yen Duong to Dinh Trung (Phung Luyen), concentrated their forces to hunt down, arrest and torture the people brutally. They recaptured comrades Nguyen Huynh and Nguyen Trong Phuong and sentenced them to hard labor.
In 1936, Comrade Nguyen Huynh was released from prison and contacted comrades in his hometown, implemented the Party's policies, and established mass organizations such as the Mutual Aid Association and the Friendship Association. Comrade Nguyen Huynh also opened a class to teach the national language at his home and taught directly.
In May 1945, comrade Nguyen Huynh, along with comrades Tran Dao, Pham The Dong, and Nguyen Dac Thuan, held a conference in Cat Khanh village (Cam Xuyen town) to establish the Viet Minh General Committee.
On August 14, 1945, comrades in the Viet Minh General Committee and the District Uprising Committee met at comrade Nguyen Huynh's house to discuss plans to organize and lead the masses to seize power.
On August 16, 1945, revolutionary forces in Cam Xuyen villages confiscated all the books and seals of the village chief. Immediately after gaining power, on August 20, 1945, the Ha Tinh Party Building Mobilization Committee appointed comrades Nguyen Huynh, Nguyen Huu Thai, Tran Dao, Pham The Dong, and Nguyen Dac Thuan to build the Cam Xuyen District Party Committee.
Later, comrade Nguyen Huynh continued to work in organizations such as the Viet Minh Executive Committee; the Uprising Committee, member of the Ha Tinh Provincial Party Committee Executive Committee; member of the Cam Xuyen District Party Committee Executive Committee...
After a long period of revolutionary activities, comrade Nguyen Huynh retired. In 1992, due to old age and poor health, he passed away at the age of 84. With his great contributions in the period 1930-1931 as well as later, comrade Nguyen Huynh was recognized as a revolutionary veteran and his family was awarded a commemorative medal and a certificate of merit by the State.
The Nghe Tinh Soviet was a brilliant milestone of the Party Committee and people of Yen Hoa commune. In 1966, Phung Luyen village and Chau Sa hamlet in Yen Hoa commune were recognized by the State as Soviet villages, awarded commemorative medals and certificates of merit to the country. The vibrant revolutionary fighting life of comrade Nguyen Huynh is one of the typical examples of communist soldiers, adding to the patriotic tradition and indomitable spirit of the people of Yen Hoa commune, Cam Xuyen district in the Nghe Tinh Soviet movement 1930-1931.
