In recent years, on the Bara canal systemDo Luong(section through Yen Thanh district) drowning incidents often occur. The victims are mostly children.

Part of the reason is that along the Dao River, the slopes are covered with tarpaulin and paved with concrete, and after a short time, the tarpaulins have become mossy and slippery. Meanwhile, there are few landing and life-saving points. Therefore, even those who know how to swim find it very difficult to get up.

Faced with the above situation, from June 15 to June 24, the Project to restore and upgrade the Northern Nghe An irrigation system (JICA2) deployed steel pile driving on both sides of the canal, using stainless steel chains to fix life buoys on the Do Luong canal (the section from Bac Thanh commune to Do Thanh, Yen Thanh district, about 10 km long).

The purpose of installing this buoy is to help people who aredrowning, those who want to save drowning people have the means to do so. According to the design along the 10 km of the canal, in sections near bridges and culverts, densely populated areas, 147 stainless steel chains are placed, each stainless steel chain is attached with 4 life buoys.

Ms. Tran Thi Ngan in Block 1, Yen Thanh Town, Yen Thanh District said: "Along the canal banks, there are life buoys, we feel secure, because if someone unfortunately falls into the canal, they can hold on to the buoy chain to get to shore, or the rescue work will be more convenient."

It is known that the project of driving steel piles to drop life buoys on the Ba Ra Do Luong canal will soon be handed over to the Bac Irrigation One Member Co., Ltd. for management. However, to achieve high efficiency, the local government has stepped up propaganda to encourage people to protect the life buoy system together. If any subjects intentionally sabotage the life buoys, they must be strictly handled according to regulations./.
