A report by the Department of Archaeology under the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation of Nepal released on May 3 said that more than 200 monuments were partially damaged. Nepalese authorities are working to collect the remaining ruins, including many valuable objects, from the relic sites.

Collection and conservation work is also underway at sites like Basantapur Durbar Square, Bhaktapur Durbar Square and Patan Durbar Square, all of which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Local residents and volunteers actively assisted the Nepalese army and police in searching for wooden beams, struts, statues, precious silver and bronze objects at historical sites shaken by the earthquake.

Regarding the relief work for victims of the earthquake in Nepal, the country's authorities announced on May 3 that police had just discovered about 50 bodies, including those of foreign climbers, in the avalanche-hit area.

Rasuwa police said no bodies had been identified. At least 200 people were still missing in the avalanche area, including villagers and foreign climbers.

Meanwhile, the total number of people killed in the earthquake in Nepal has also exceeded 7,000./.
