Accompanying farmers in winter crop production
(Baonghean.vn) -For many years now, winter crop has become the main crop of the year for Anh Son people. To ensure the goal of safe and effective winter crop production right from the beginning of the season, many solutions have been implemented by the Party Committee and the government of Anh Son district.
These days, in Dinh Son commune, farmers are focusing on harvesting large-biomass young corn to sell to dairy companies and speeding up the harvest of rice fields to prepare the land for winter corn planting. Mr. Nguyen Van Dung in hamlet 5, Dinh Son commune excitedly said: Last summer-autumn crop, my family planted 2.1 hectares of large-biomass corn, harvested 20 tons, and sold it to a dairy company for 30 million VND. Currently, my family is preparing the land to continue planting corn for the next crop.

Mr. Phan Van Hoi - Vice Chairman of Dinh Son Commune People's Committee said: According to the plan, this winter crop, the commune will sow over 200 hectares of corn and 15 hectares of various vegetables. Identifying corn as the main crop in this winter crop, the commune is focusing on regional planning and arranging appropriate seed structure, in which priority is given to varieties with large biomass such as NK4300, SK100... along with encouraging people to apply technical measures in production to achieve high yield.

In Cam Son commune, farmers are also actively producing winter vegetables. Ms. Ha Thi Mai in Ke May village said: "With the guidance of the Commune Farmers' Association on techniques for planting and caring for squash, last winter my family planted 6 sao of squash, harvested 7.8 tons of fruit, earning 46 million VND. This winter I continue to plant squash, which is currently growing well, and will be ready for harvest around the end of September and the beginning of October."
To achieve the target of producing 326 hectares of various crops, Cam Son commune established a steering committee to assign cadres to grasp the situation in hamlets and villages; propagate, mobilize, and promote the pioneering spirit of party members in leading the production of new varieties, applying science and technology and complying with the crop calendar so that people can respond and follow.

In addition, the district directed agricultural service units to provide timely, sufficient, and quality plant varieties to serve farmers. Encourage localities to apply mechanization in the fields to speed up production progress, while strengthening investigation, estimation, and forecasting to detect early and effectively prevent pests and diseases, contributing to the successful production of the 2016 winter crop.
Mr. Nguyen Dinh Dang - Head of the Department of Agriculture of Anh Son district said: According to the plan for the 2016 winter crop, Anh Son district planted 4,165 hectares. Of which, winter corn is 3,500 hectares, vegetables and beans are 2,900 hectares, squash is about 195 hectares and sweet potatoes are 180 hectares. To achieve comprehensive victory in terms of area, productivity and output of winter crops, right from the beginning of the crop, the district has developed a project; established a steering committee and working group to closely follow localities; deployed many groups of solutions; issued mechanisms and policies to focus on comprehensive winter crop production on both fields, yards and land, in which the income value per unit area is given top priority. |
