On May 14, at the Phillips Geneva Watch Auction (Switzerland), the Rolex reference 6062 watch once owned by King Bao Dai officially became the most expensive Rolex in auction history when it was sold to its new owner for $5,060,427.
In addition to unique details such as the rare black diamond-studded dial, the record price of the Rolex "Bao Dai" is also pushed up because it was once owned by the last emperor of Vietnam.
Before the auction, many people expected the Rolex "Bao Dai" to surpass the price of a Rolex reference 4113, which currently holds the price record.
Not only did it surpass the value of the 4113 right from the first bids, the Rolex "Bao Dai" ended the auction with a price double that of the 4113, demonstrating its rarity.
Thus, the "Bao Dai" has regained the title of the most expensive Rolex watch in history, which it achieved in 2002. At that time, the Rolex "Bao Dai" cost 235,000 USD. After 15 years, the value of the Rolex reference 6062 "Bao Dai" has increased 21 times, impressing many experts in the industry.
