Simultaneously launched to check overloaded vehicles "eating the road"
The Vietnam Road Administration (Ministry of Transport) has just issued Official Dispatch No. 1618/TCDBVN-TTr requesting to continue coordinating with the General Department of Administrative Police for Social Order and Safety to develop a plan to inspect mobile vehicle loads on the network of national highways passing through the provinces and cities of Hai Phong, Thai Binh, Ninh Binh, Quang Tri, Binh Dinh and Can Tho at the end of this April.

Specifically, in Quang Tri province, the vehicle load control team will coordinate to control and handle the act of transporting oversized and overloaded goods on National Highways 1 and 9.
In Binh Dinh province, overloaded vehicles will be "tightened" on National Highways 1 and 19. In Can Tho province alone, the control force will simultaneously check for overloaded vehicles that "destroy the road" on National Highways 1, 91, 80, Quan Lo-Phung Hiep road and Nam Song Hau road.
In addition, the General Department of Roads also assigned the interdisciplinary force after April 28 to continue to control and handle the transport of oversized and overloaded goods on National Highway 5 in Hai Phong city.
In addition, the General Department of Roads requested the Ministry of Transport to send an official dispatch to the People's Committees of provinces and centrally-run cities, directing the inter-sectoral forces to coordinate in developing a plan, and simultaneously launch at the end of April 2013 to inspect and handle overloaded cargo vehicles.
In order to "tighten" the number of trucks "eating" the road, the Ministry of Transport has approved and implemented an investment project to build 11 vehicle load inspection stations and 67 mobile scales to control overloaded vehicles on roads for the period 2013-2015.
This year, the Vietnam Road Administration will invest in building 10 mobile weighing stations and arrange scales on important national highways.
According to the General Department of Roads, each mobile weighing station requires little capital investment but brings great efficiency. Thus, fixed stations, due to the huge investment, can be slowed down and the number can be reduced./.
Previously, on April 9, April 15, and April 22, the General Department of Roads launched a campaign to inspect and handle oversized and overloaded vehicles in Hai Phong, Ha Nam, and Nam Dinh.
According to statistics from the inspection teams, after a week of inspection, the authorities checked 158 vehicles with signs of overloading, mainly trucks and semi-trailers, of which 71 vehicles were handled for violations, with a total load of nearly 187,000 tons.
