Ukraine allies fear Kiev losing control of valuable resources
Regarding the rare earths deal with the US, Ukraine's allies are concerned that Kiev will lose control of valuable resources.

According to RIA Novosti on April 6, Politico quoted a source saying that Ukraine's allies are concerned that the country will lose control of valuable minerals, including titanium and uranium.
"Ukraine has many valuable minerals such as titanium, uranium and many others. If Russia gets hold of these resources, it will be a disaster for Kiev's allies" - Politico said.
Politico's source also called the US-Ukraine mineral deal a “moment” that could reassure Kiev.
Ukraine possesses many important minerals, including rare earths, titanium, uranium and lithium...
Earlier, on March 31, US President Donald Trump said he saw the Ukrainian leader trying to abandon the rare earth deal, and predicted that Mr. Zelensky would have big problems if he withdrew.
Meanwhile, Deputy Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament Yaroslav Zheleznyak said that the new draft agreement on Ukraine's resources is not beneficial to Kiev. According to him, the document recognizes US participation in the management of all mineral resources, including oil and gas, and does not mention a word about ensuring Ukraine's security.
In turn, Ukrainian President Zelensky accused the US of changing the terms of the agreement. He also refused to recognize previous aid provided by Washington as debt.
"If we don't get security guarantees from the US, I believe this economic agreement won't work. Everything must be fair," Mr. Zelensky said.
The signing of the rare earth metals agreement between the US and Ukraine collapsed in late February 2025 when President Volodymyr Zelensky visited Washington. US President Donald Trump criticized Mr. Zelensky for “disrespect.” While Vice President JD Vance called “our guest from Kiev an ungrateful agitator.” Mr. Zelensky was asked to leave the White House after a heated exchange of words.
