Russian ruble falls to record low against US dollar
According to AFP, the Russian ruble on August 28 fell to a record low against the US dollar (USD), as investors worried that the West would tighten sanctions against Russia, related to the crisis in Ukraine.

The ruble fell to 37.0260 to the dollar, below its previous record in March, when Russia annexed Crimea from Ukraine.
The tense situation in Ukraine also caused the world stock market to plummet as almost all key indexes plummeted.
Ukraine and the United States are currently accusing Russia of sending troops and vehicles into its neighboring country, a claim Moscow has denied. At an emergency meeting of the Security Council on August 28, UN Deputy Secretary-General Jeffrey Feltman announced that the UN could neither confirm nor deny this information.
