The number of candidates and their families traveling to Hanoi will create great pressure on Hanoi's train and bus stations. However, according to the leaders of the stations, they will arrange enough vehicles to clear passengers in the fastest time.

Add 575 more passenger cars

Mr. Nguyen Hoang Trung, Director of Hanoi Bus Station Management Company (QLBX) said that with many years of experience serving university and college entrance exams, the company has carefully prepared all plans. First, the number of candidates and their families from other provinces traveling together is summarized, then a plan is made to arrange the vehicles.

Hanoi Bus Station Management Company predicts that this year, the number of passengers will concentrate on returning home (after finishing the exam) mainly during the first period (university entrance exam) on 2 days: afternoon of July 5 and 6 and the second period on the afternoon of July 10 and 11.

The number of passengers returning after the college entrance exam will not be large. Thus, in addition to the daily number of passengers, during peak times right after the exams, the number of passengers on the route will increase by about 100 - 130% at My Dinh bus station, increase by 80 - 90% at Giap Bat bus station, and increase by about 60 - 70% at Gia Lam bus station. To best meet the travel needs of candidates and their families, Hanoi Bus Management Company will increase 575 vehicles to divide equally between stations and exam periods. "Thus, during the two university and college entrance exams, there will be no shortage of vehicles, because currently all transportation businesses have service plans," Mr. Trung affirmed.

10% discount on tickets for candidates

Good news for this year's candidates is that Vietnam Railways Corporation has reduced ticket prices for students taking exams and enrolling in universities, academies, colleges, high schools and vocational schools in 2011.

Ms. Phung Thi Ly Ha, Deputy Head of Hanoi Railway Station, said that all students taking exams or enrolling in universities, academies, colleges, high schools, vocational schools and accompanying relatives will receive a 10% discount on all passenger trains. Specifically, each exam notice is entitled to buy 1 discounted ticket and 1 additional discounted ticket for accompanying relatives (if any) for one outbound and one return trip. For admission notices, students are entitled to buy discounted tickets for one outbound trip and 1 additional discounted ticket for accompanying relatives. When purchasing discounted tickets, students must present their ID card or student card along with the exam notice and admission notice (for students enrolling in school).
